Queen Beryl
Queen Beryl was a villain in the Dark Kingdom. She is often seen as the leader of the Dark Kingdom. However, this is not true. Queen Metallia was the leader, and Queen Beryl was just one of her minions. Beryl was corrupted by Metallia. She might have been a nice girl once, but she came into contact with Metallia, and was corrupted. Back in the Silver Millenium, Beryl killed Prince Endymion with a sword. She did not kill Princess Selenity; the princess comitted suicide after seeing her love lose his life. It was never Beryl's intention to kill Endymion; she really wanted to kill Selenity. Beryl was reincarnarted, as was Metallia and the Sailor Senshi. In the manga, she did not kill Zoisite, as is shown in the anime. It is a fact that Beryl had a "thing" for Mamoru. She brainwashes him in the manga to get to Usagi. Of course, as we all know, this plan doesn't work as planned, and Beryl is destroyed. But her last thoughts as she dies are, "Endymion...I...only wanted...you." We see a flash from the past where Beryl watches Endymion from afar. Beryl also brainwashed the four generals (Zoisite, Kunzite, Nephrite, and Jadeite). Like Beryl, they were not always evil. They fought on the side of the Dark Kingdom due to Beryl's brainwashing. Queen Beryl is named after a mineral, like many of the other SailorMoon villains. She is named after the mineral Beryl. It is interesting how all the villains are named after minerals or gemstones. |
