Jadeite
Jadeite is the first of the four generals of the Dark Kingdom (The Negaverse in the English DUB) to appear. He works for the evil Queen Beryl as the First Commanding Officer of the Far Eastern Division. He is Usagi's first real opponent. In the manga, Jadeite's past is revealed. He and the other three generals (Kunzite, Nephrite, and Zoicite) were all a part of Mamoru's court in the Silver Millenium. But the dark forces took them over and turned them into bad guys. When they were reincarnated on earth, they were bad guys again. After Jadeite's death in the manga, we see his spirit appear sometimes to help Mamoru out. It is interesting to note that all four generals were named after a gem or mineral of some sort. It is sometimes said that the four generals were betrothed to the four inner senshi in the past. However, Takeuchi Naoko never expanded this idea. She did however, draw a picture portraying this concept. In the picture, Jadeite is paired with Sailor Mars. As another interesting side note, Jadeite was killed by Sailor Mars. Before she did so, he did, however, comment on her beauty. Is it a coincidence that in the "betrothed concept" all the generals were killed by the senshi whom they were paired with? |
